ESPN報導，亞特蘭大老鷹決定用四年7000萬美元跟23歲後衛「德國跑車」施羅德（Dennis Schroder）續約，施羅德本季將成為老鷹先發控球，取代今夏被交易到溜馬的明星後衛提格（Jeff Teague）。
上季施羅德場均11分、4.4助攻，場均上場20.3分鐘，效率非常驚人。施羅德速度驚人，改變比賽節奏超強，雖然投籃和三分球能力偏差，但他能改變比賽節奏，為老鷹注入不同能量，這也是今年夏天老鷹決定做出改變，交易送走提格，扶正施羅德的原因。
施羅德身高186公分，2013年新人選秀會第一輪第17順位被老鷹挑中，三年來成長幅度驚人，上季季末已經成為老鷹輪換陣容主力，也逐漸取代提格先發地位。
老鷹今夏已經簽下中鋒哈沃德（Dwight Howard），扶正施羅德，搭檔明星大前鋒米爾賽普（Paul Millsap），被視為「東區馬刺」的老鷹重新布局，他們的目標就是挑戰東區霸主克里夫蘭騎士，瞄準東區冠軍。
